What is Best, Cologne or Aftershave?

You may wonder what the difference is between aftershave for men and men’s cologne. Manufacturers of these items create both for good reason although it can be difficult to see what these differences actually are. They smell the same but there are qualities in each item that make it unique.

Choosing the best cologne for a man is not always the easiest task. Sometimes people who are shopping for a gentleman are at a loss when it comes to selecting a fragrance. Many times the man himself is a little apprehensive about buying fragrances as well. One of the problems is that there are so many products available and they can be confusing. Should I be buying aftershave for or cologne?

However, once you learn how the fragrances function and the particular role they play in daily grooming you will be one step closer to getting comfortable making such purchases. It is not really difficult to choose a fragrance once you become familiar with them. You also have to consider what you want as well. Aftershave for men serves a specific purpose while cologne serves another. Figuring out which item suits your needs will help you determine which to select.

Remember that your needs will vary from day to day. Have you ever smelled a guy’s cologne from across the room? There is reason that he is overwhelming the area with his fragrance. He decided to buy the best cologne instead of aftershave. However, cologne is much stronger. If you layer this type of fragrance on yourself the effect may be overpowering.

The problem is that you may not realize that you are filling the entire building with fragrance just by walking into a room. The cologne’s scent will grow on you and you won’t be able to smell it the way others do. Remember that cologne serves a different purpose.

Aftershave for men is designed to condition the skin. The scent may be the same as the cologne but it is significantly milder than its counterpart. If you use even the best cologne as a type of face conditioner after shaving, you will overwhelm yourself with fragrance.

Another thing to remember is that you want to layer the fragrance. Using aftershave is a good way to condition your skin, close pores and add a little scent to your skin. However, cologne will always be stronger and last longer. Add just a dab here and there and you have created a well balanced layer of masculine fragrance that won’t be overpowering.

As many men know, wearing the right cologne can do wonders for your chances of finding love and romance during a night out on the town. Nonetheless, finding the correct aftershave for men can be a real struggle. The aftershave for men that smells best to you might not smell the best to the women that you are looking to attract. This has a lot to do with pheromones. Almost every fragrance sold commercially, both perfume for women and aftershave for men, contain musk from one animal or another. This is meant to make the person who wears the aftershave for men seem more attractive and appealing to the opposite sex. Although it might work sometimes, other times the smell might not be quite right. It could be too strong or two weak, too musky or even too thin. There is no way of really knowing whether the cologne for men that you wear is the right scent or not, unless you ask a girl whose opinion you value.

Of course, there are many other factors to consider as well when you are out looking for an aftershave for men. Many men have sensitive skin, particularly upon their faces. Right after shaving, the skin is likely to be even a little bit more sensitive, as you may know, so having the wrong aftershave for men can really hurt. Not only can the alcohol which is included in most aftershaves for men burn the face, but the fragrance can itself can even cause you to break out. It is a fact that there are few things more unpleasant or embarrassing than to come down with a rash all over your face when you are about to have a date, particularly if it is an itchy rash.

Everyone has their own preference with mens aftershave, and I am no exception. Every aftershave for men that I like has certain things in common with the others. They are all of medium intensity, and they have a crisp, clean feeling. I guess the fact is that, if my aftershave for men comes off as too strong, it will be overwhelming and make it difficult to so much as breathe around me, but on the other hand if it is too weak, I will not be as likely to get attention as a result of my lovely scent. It is really important to strike a good balance.
